     تبخیر تعرق یکی از مهم­ترین اجزای چرخه هیدرولوژی برای برنامه­ریزی سیستم­های آبیاری و ارزیابی اثرات هیدرولوژی تغییر اقلیم است. مدل­سازی و پیش­بینی سری­های زمانی تبخیر تعرق با روش پنمن مانتیث برای ایستگاه سینوپتیک تبریز با استفاده از مدل­های ARIMA و  SARIMA به عنوان مدل­های تصادفی خطی مورد مطالعه قرار گرفت. در این تحقیق، از آمار و اطلاعات ایستگاه تبریز در دوره آماری 2010- 1986 استفاده شد و پس از محاسبه تبخیر تعرق پتانسیل، از 20 سال اول داده­ها برای پیش­بینی و 5 سال آخر آنها برای صحت­سنجی مدل استفاده شد. محاسبات مربوطه در دو حالت متمایز انجام شد. در حالت اول همه داده­ها به عنوان یک سری سالانه در نظر گرفته شدند و مدل مناسب آنها برازش داده شد. در حالت دوم سری­های ماهانه به صورت مجزا در طول دوره آماری انتخاب شدند و برای هر یک از آنها، بهترین مدل برازش داده شده انتخاب گردید. نتایج نشان دادکه حالت اول با ضریب تعیین و ریشه میانگین مربعات خطا، به ترتیب 964/0 و 85/14 در مقایسه با حالت دوم با ضریب تعیین و ریشه میانگین مربعات خطا به ترتیب 963/0 و 52/15، تفاوت معنی­داری نداشته و علی­رغم آنکه روش اول در حدود 67/0 میلی­متر در ماه خطای کمتری در بر داشته است، ولی در مجموع نتایج دو روش اختلاف معنی­داری را ندارد و هر دو قابل توصیه می­باشند. در حالت کلی روش اول به دلیل در بر گرفتن محاسبات کمتر قابل توصیه می­باشد.
