منحنی سنجه رسوب رودخانه­ ها برای بسیاری از مباحث و محاسبات مهندسی رودخانه مثل لایروبی، طراحی مخازن سدها، طراحی آبگیرهای جانبی و مدیریت برداشت مصالح رودخانه ­ای یک فاکتور اساسی است. اگرچه این منحنی به­ کمک داده ­های اندازه ­گیری شده همزمان دبی جریان و دبی رسوب توسعه داده می­ شود اما به­ دلیل تعداد کم داده­ های اندازه­ گیری در زمان وقوع سیل، اعتبار این منحنی در شرایط  سیلاب کم است. این خلاء را می­توان به کمک یک ابزار ساده و کاربردی مثل مدل­ های ریاضی شبه­ دوبعدی تا حدودی برطرف نمود. این مدل­ ها هم­ اکنون به عنوان یک راه­ حل بهینه و کارآمد، کاربرد گسترده­ ای در مباحث هیدرولیک جریان و رسوب رودخانه­ ها یافته­ اند. در این مدل­ ها، تغییرات سرعت در عرض رودخانه­ ها به کمک حل عددی معادلات دیفرانسیل ناویر-استوکس و در شرایط جریان ماندگار و یکنواخت شبیه­ سازی می­ شود. در پژوهش حاضر با استفاده از مدل ریاضی شبه دوبعدی شیونو و نایت، توزیع عرضی سرعت جریان در رودخانه قره­ سو در حل ایستگاه هیدرومتری سیاه­آب محاسبه شده و سپس به­ کمک این نتایج و تلفیق آنها با روابط تجربی انتقال رسوب، توزیع عرضی رسوب کل و ظرفیت انتقال رسوب رودخانه تعیین شد. نتایج حاصله نشان دهنده عملکرد مناسب مدل شبه دوبعدی در برآورد توزیع عرضی سرعت جریان با خطای متوسط 7/8 درصد می­باشد. همچنین از میان روابط مختلف انتقال رسوب، رابطه انگلوند- هانسن با خطای متوسط 34 درصد، بهترین دقت را در تخمین دبی رسوب رودخانه و استخراج منحنی سنجه رسوب داشته است. روابط تجربی یانگ و ایکرز-وایت به­ ترتیب با متوسط خطای نسبی 46 و 64 درصد، در رده­ های بعد قرار دارند. رابطه لارسن نیز با متوسط خطای نسبی 258 درصد، دارای دقت بسیار کمی است.
