     اثرات تغییر اقلیم بر بخش­های مختلف حوزه آبریز، بیش از آنکه از تغییر در مقدار بارش متأثر باشد، تحت تأثیر تغییراتی است که این پدیده بر رژیم بارش (شدت و فراوانی آن) دارد؛ بدین معنا که تغییر اقلیم با تأثیر بر توزیع مکانی و زمانی بارش می‌تواند موجب رخداد سیل و یا خشکسالی‌های گسترده شود، و از این جهت انجام مطالعات در رابطه با دوره‌بازگشت بارش‌های حدی ضروری به نظر می رسد. بر این اساس مقاله حاضر به بررسی و تحلیل اثر تغییر اقلیم بر رژیم بارش‌های حداکثری حوزه سیل‌برگردان غرب در سه افق زمانی 2036، 2060، و 2090 بر اساس داده‌های گزارش ارزیابی پنجم IPCC و تحت سناریوی RCP8.5 می‌پردازد. بررسی (صورت گرفته توسط مؤلفین مقاله طی تحقیقات پیشین) نشان می‌دهد که بهترین مدل به لحاظ دقت و توانایی شبیه سازی روند تغییرات بارش در حوزه مورد بررسی، مدل MRI-CGCM3 می‌باشد. ریزمقیاس‌سازی نیز توسط روش عامل تغییر صورت گرفت. نتایج مدل سازی های صورت گرفته در مجموع حاکی از افزایش مقدار بارش در دوره‌های زمانی آینده است. همچنین نتایج حاصل از تحلیل بارش‌های حدی حوزه نیز نشان می‌دهد که با حرکت به سمت آینده دور مقدار و شدت بارش‌های حداکثر سالانه برای یک دوره‌بازگشت معین افزایش مییابد. همچنین فراوانی و احتمال وقوع بارش‌های حدی حوزه با افزایش قابل توجهی همراه بوده و بنابراین به‌کارگیری راهکارهای تطبیقی جهت پیشگیری از پدیده سیل و آبگرفتگی شهری در حوزه ضروری به نظر می‌رسد.
