    تعیین دقیق جریان رودخانه در آبخیزهای فاقد آمار از چالش­های مهم در هیدرولوژی می­ باشد. در این راستا، با توجه به تنوع مدل­های هیدرولوژیکی موجود، انتخاب مدل مناسب مستلزم ارزیابی عملکرد مدل­ها در شرایط هیدرولوژیکی هر منطقه است. هدف از این پژوهش مقایسه کارایی روش شبکه عصبی مصنوعی (ANN) و مدل یکپارچه IHACRES برای پیش­ بینی جریان رودخانه سیوند در حوضه طشک- بختگان واقع در استان فارس به ­عنوان یک منطقه گرم و خشک می ­باشد. از داده ­های سال­های 1361 تا 1374 برای واسنجی و 1375 تا 1391 برای صحت­ سنجی مدل استفاده شد. برای ارزیابی قابلیت شبکه­ های عصبی­ مصنوعی، از جعبه ابزار مربوط به شبکه عصبی نرم­افزار متلب استفاده شد. مقادیر جریان شبیه ­سازی شده بوسیله مدل IHACRES برای دبی سیلابی در دوره واسنجی بیشتر و در دوره صحت ­سنجی، کمتر از مقادیر مشاهداتی بود. مقادیر ضریب تبیین در فرایند واسنجی و صحت ­سنجی این مدل به­ترتیب 62/0 و 54/0 بود. کمترین و بیشترین مقدار ضریب تبیین شبکه عصبی دینامیک در دوره­ های واسنجی و صحت ­سنجی به ­ترتیب 88/0 و 94/0 بود در حالی­که برای شبکه­ های عصبی ­ایستا به­ترتیب 51/0 و 69/0 بود. براساس نتایج، شبکه­ های عصبی مصنوعی با دقت بیشتری نسبت به مدل IHACRES، جریان ماهانه رودخانه سیوند را پیش­ بینی کردند.
