Introduction: The category of monitoring and evaluation is one of the basic pillars of the implementation of watershed projects, which is considered as a tool to check their effectiveness. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effect of watershed management measures before and after the implementation of the project on the general condition of Langar 1 watershed.
Materials and methods: The effectiveness of watershed projects implemented by considering factors such as erosion and sedimentation, change of use, peak discharge and flood volume, economic issues of watershed residents and vegetation changes before and after the implementation of these projects (between 2009 and 2021) using Satellite images, field visits and receiving data from the General Department of Natural Resources of Mazandaran province - Sari, in Langar 1 watershed of Mazandaran province, were monitored and evaluated.
Results: The results showed that the implementation of biological and mechanical operations in the entire basin caused a 17.89 and 25.94 percent reduction in erosion and sedimentation rates, a 30 percent increase in dense vegetation index, a 1178.18 million cubic meter reduction in flood volume, and an increase in the profit rate at the cost of 1/12 has become watershed dwellers. According to the obtained results, it is suggested to expand the implementation of biological and mechanical operations in accordance with the cultivation pattern and economic and social issues at the basin level.
Conclusion: The implementation of watershed management plans in the watershed will be one of the most important factors in land protection, reducing soil erosion and flooding, and increasing the area under cultivation and the prosperity of residents.
